By familiarising them with the most important factors influencing secure bolted joints, they will know what is important in the future. The Bossard specialist seminar ‘Secure bolted joints’ provides basic knowledge: mechanical properties of fasteners and components, as well as the most important physical principles of action.

The seminar day is aimed at people in design and planning, as well as assembly and maintenance personnel. Cost: CHF 550 per person, excluding VAT.

Welcome
We look forward to the start of the seminar ‘Safe bolted joints’ and begin with an introduction to the day's programme and a brief presentation of the Bossard company.

9:15 - 10:20 a.m.
Basic knowledge of bolted joints (Part I)
You will learn how bolted joints work, the most important mechanical properties and the most important physical operating principles.

10:20 - 10:35 a.m.
Coffee break ☕

10:35 - 12:30 p.m.
Workshop ‘Assembly accuracy’
In the practical workshop on assembly accuracy, you can directly apply what you have just learnt.

Basic knowledge of screw connections (Part II)
We show you when and why the assembly preload force can scatter. After this session, you will be familiar with the effects of settling and friction. We will also show you some practical cases of damage.

Workshop ‘Friction’
In our accredited test laboratory, we will show you how friction coefficient tests are carried out. You will also learn about the effects of different friction ratios on the assembly preload force as part of a practical workshop.

Lunch break 🍝

13:30 - 14:45 p.m.
Basic knowledge on the topic of securing methods for bolted connections
In addition to the previous sessions, we will look at various ways of securing bolted joints.

Practical demo of loosening behaviour under vibration load
In the neighbouring practice room, we use the ‘vibrating table’ to compare the function of various locking elements.

15:00 - 16:00 p.m.
Expertise to supplement what has been learned so far
Whilst we have already dealt with individual questions during the day, there is now time to reflect on what we have learnt and/or to address additional topics.

Conclusion
After the seminar, you will have the opportunity to take a 45-minute tour of the Bossard Technology and Logistics Centre. (optional)

Dominik Schmid is our expert for screw connections. The more complex the load cases, the more he enjoys taking on the design. After his training as a metalworker and mechanical engineer, he gained experience in steel construction.

Jean-Claude Théraulaz is an expert in friction tests, tensile tests, and material analysis. With 5 years of Bossard experience, he knows the accredited testing lab well.
