Declaration of performance and CE marking of construction products
The Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 establishing harmonized rules for the marketing of construction products replaces the previous Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 (formerly Directive 89/106/EEC). The previous system for assessment and verification of constancy of performance is replaced by the new assessment and verification systems. The precondition for placing a construction product on the market that falls under a harmonized technical specification is the preparation of a declaration of performance and conformity.
The individual requirements of fasteners are regulated by the harmonized standards EN 14592 and EN 14566 for timber structures / drywall fixings and EN 15048 and EN 14399-ff for steel / metal. Products which do not fall under a harmonized standard or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) can still be distributed without CE marking.
It is important to point out that the DoP and CE marking only is required for construction products used in buildings when they will be permanently installed and at the same time have influence on the basic requirements for the building. Upon inquiry / ordering of fasteners with specific requirements from construction engineering, the reference to the respective harmonized standard or European Technical Assessment must be included with the corresponding specification.
The declaration of performance is available on the website of the respective manufacturer and can be viewed and downloaded when needed.
