Precote® 5 Sealing Coating

Precote® 5 is a nonreactive, film-forming dispersion with solid mineral lubricants. It is a physiologically harmless precoating for immediate sealing of cylindrical and conical threads.

Precote® 5 provides reliable sealing for assembly components such as screws, studs, plugs, and pipe threads. It is suitable for both cylindrical/cylindrical and cylindrical/conical connections and protects effectively against gases, water, motor oils, gasoline, diesel, brake fluids, water-glycol mixtures, automatic transmission oils, gear oils, and various other liquids.

The white coating can also be applied to flange head screws or collared plugs for under‑head sealing and serves as an effective sealing material for rivets.

Precote® 5 Application Areas

Precote® 5 is suitable for all types of assembly processes and is particularly well suited for large‑scale serial production. Typical application areas include electronics, two‑wheel and automotive industries, household appliances, office equipment, computer hardware, electric motors, and e‑mobility applications.

Technical Information

General

Threaded parts from M3 up to M68. Lengths up to 220 mm. Nuts from M5 up to M12. Color white.

The internal thread must have a countersink (no sharp-edged thread inserts); otherwise, the patch could be peeled off when the screw is installed. A special inhibitor avoids corrosion also on brass fittings.

Temperature Ranges

Air: from -60 °C to +160 °C
Tap water: 100 °C
Engine oil, gear oil, brake fluid: up to 150 °C
Glycol/water 50/50: 120 °C
