How Dangel Optimized Their Assembly

Success Stories
Automobiles Dangel is a French specialist in 4x4 utility conversions. Their challenge: Modernizing the assembly process to boost reliability, ensure full traceability, and support growth. This is how they did it.
One of the answers lies in digitalizing assembly operations. The video highlights how Automobile Dangel is enhancing reliability and traceability with smart, connected workflows.

Automobile Dangel is a French automotive manufacturer specializing in converting commercial vehicles into all-terrain 4x4 models. Each year, nearly 4,000 vehicles from the Stellantis group’s brands (Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat, and Opel) are modified to meet demanding requirements, particularly in challenging environments.
In a context of growth, Automobile Dangel needed to modernize its assembly operations to improve control over its industrial processes. The company faced several challenges: eliminating paper-based documentation, providing operators with structured guidance for their tasks, and ensuring consistent quality, particularly across all manual operations and critical tightening procedures. At the same time, the need to ensure full traceability of operations was becoming essential.
The goal, therefore, was to implement a solution capable of streamlining and securing processes while making production more agile.
To address these challenges, Automobile Dangel has implemented Bossard’s Smart Factory Assembly solutions, establishing a comprehensive digital support system for operators. Process teams now have access to a tool that enables them to design and adapt digital workflows based on product variants, production constraints, and the operators’ level of expertise.
At their workstations, operators are guided in real time by interactive instructions synchronized with the progress of operations, ensuring that relevant information is always available. The integration of connected Smart Tools automates critical operations, such as tightening, while reducing the risk of errors. Data is automatically collected and centralized, ensuring reliable and comprehensive traceability. This guarantees the compliance of every product, with the assurance that no screw is left out or improperly tightened.
We plan to equip around 15 additional workstations, and in the medium term, all workshop workstations.
The implementation of this solution has delivered tangible benefits. Operational quality has been enhanced through real-time monitoring and the automation of critical processes, reducing the risk of errors. Automobile Dangel now benefits from full traceability, ensuring compliance. Digital guidance has accelerated the skill development of operators, who are rapidly gaining autonomy and versatility. Finally, productivity has improved: inspection and documentation tasks are now integrated into the process, while the process engineering teams retain control over their instructions.
