miniBOOSTER® Hydraulic Pressure Intensifiers

miniBOOSTER® pressure intensifiers – or pressure boosters – amplify a low inlet pressure to a high outlet pressure. This allows you to utilize high pressure precisely where it is needed, reducing cost, space, and energy consumption.

How Pressure Intensifiers Work

miniBOOSTER® hydraulic pressure intensifiers are oscillating boosters. They enable you to increase a low inlet pressure (20 bar to 200 bar) to a high outlet pressure (up to 800 bar/2,000 bar or more). The outlet pressure is controlled by regulating the inlet pressure and is directly proportional. The pressure boosters offer a fast response function at low initial pressure (high volume flow, for example, for moving a cylinder) and automatically switch to pressure boosting as the counterpressure increases.

This allows both large volume flows and high pressures to be achieved with low pump capacities. High-pressure piping is largely or completely eliminated, as low pressure can be used up to the component where high pressure is required. High pressure is generated only where it is needed. Expensive high-pressure pumps with high drive capacities are no longer necessary.

Applications

miniBOOSTER® pressure intensifiers are used in hydraulic systems where the available system pressure is insufficient, e.g. for the required clamping force. In confined installation conditions, they enable the designer to use smaller, space-saving cylinders or other hydraulic components. When using small systems (power packs), high-pressure units are not required.

  • Examples for oil as a medium: clamping, stamping, ejecting, brake boosting, concrete breaking, bolt stretchers, presses, etc.
  • Dynamic applications: injection molding machines, mobile hydraulics, maintenance equipment for rail vehicles, test benches, etc.
  • Examples of water as a medium: mining, food industry, firefighting, offshore technology, rescue shears, etc.

Advantages

  • No need for expensive high-pressure pumps
  • Cost savings on piping
  • Convert low pressure into high pressure with virtually no energy consumption and minimal heat generation
  • Long service life
  • No rotating parts
  • Low weight, high efficiency

Double-Acting Pressure Intensifiers with Two Separate Transmission Circuits – Tube

HC5 Series

A miniBOOSTER HC5 pressure intensifier ideal for applications where high pressure is required, shown on white background

The HC5 pressure booster is used when high pressure is required on both sides of a double-acting cylinder or on both sides of a hydraulic swivel device. This eliminates the need for directional control valves in the high-pressure system. Typical applications include cutting and spreading devices, among others.

  • Inlet pressure: 20 bar to 200 bar
  • Outlet pressure: up to 800 bar
